The Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross was awarded by the government of Vietnam in honor of members of the military that preformed acts of valor or heroic conduct that were in the preformed in the fighting of the enemy. They were cited as individuals of a regiment, brigades, divisions, corps, or armed forces level.
United States Military units were cited individually for the award from the government of Vietnam, but the government also awarded the cross to all units that were supordinate to the Military Assistance Command (MACV) from the time of February 8, 1962 to
March 28, 1973.
